Today in the seventh grade class, we went to the old people home again. Nothing exciting there, I just sort of sat by the piano and imagined with Kim what the kids and the old people would look like as twins. Also, I looked through a bunch of pictures, got some more material for the website, worked on a better lesson plan idea, and put some tile in a counter.
For the lesson plan, Kim gave me the idea of doing a two part sort of thing, with like one session on paper making and another just talking about it, to be honest what we talked about yesterday is a little blurry. But the point was that I dont have to do a big activity, I can just teach them something. Note to self: doing lesson plan wed. after grad portfolio.
Just so you know, I’m extending my WLE because of the hours I need to make up. Only about 145 hours left to go!

This week I had some trouble with my bank account and I couldn’t get to my internship, so I just devoted a few hours to doing a rough design of the website I wanted to make for Kim on keynote [thought keynote would be good because the slides show button paths easier and is extreamly easy to edit on]. I still havn’t gotten Dreamweaver yet from my tech guy, but it should be within my grasp in about a week. I showed kim a .jpg of the front page and she liked the layout, even said it looked proffesional [ 
].
Also, I’ve been thinking about the lesson plan I want to do and while I have plenty of ideas for what I could do, I havn’t thought of anything I really want to do. I mean, I want this thing to be awesome! I was thinking since Kim was teaching them how to make shadow boxes, I could bring in cool paper and modge podge and a really BIG wooden box, and have them all decorate it. But they alrewady know about boxes, so what’s new that I can teach them? *le sigh* I must thing on it more for now…

Today I got to visit old people! Ha. It made the class really easy; the retirment home up the street a little has this program where a class comes every week and does art with partners they made. Not amazing for me but awesome for the old people. So we did that and i cleaned some drawers and stuff with Kims other intern.
Also, kinduv unfortunatly, they have monday next week off so i can’t go in, and they have spring break when we do so I wont be getting hours for two weeks. I think i’ll be ok though because I can work on ther website and the lesson plan I’m going to do. So that’s what I’ll do toward the end project.

So my WLE just keeps getting better. Kim had an 8th grade class in the morning so we started an hour earlier, which wasn’t the fun part of the day. Except it made it seem shorter, cause after the usual 3 classes all we had to do was go art supply shopping. So kim & I ended up walking all the way to Van Ness and getting a bunch of glue and rulers etc. And after I spray painted the back of the stuff we got I just went home.
I am starting to feel a pretty comfortable. A routine in sort of getting put in place.

So this wed. i did pretty much the same ‘ol same ‘ol. I walked around helping the kids in the classes and got to know them a little better. I did a little more one on one time though; this one kid john showed me how to do a bug drawing thing, and then I help danny and another kid make a big castle out of plastic. It was pretty cool. They were actually having ‘castle wars’ with two other boys, and I didnt want to favortize so i had to go give them some help too. Haha, it was fun talking about monsters and killing machines with someone half my age.
So, all in all a relaxed day.

My first day was alright, Kim is really chill and the other college intern [i totally forget her name] is nice, too. I felt akward cause i had to really jump into the shark pool and just start walking around and talking to all the kids, but it was all cool.
I’m not sure what else i can talk about. I cleaned off a bunch of shelves, did a block print, talked to a bunch of 4th and 5th graders, got lunch and went home. I was surprised how chill Kim was, though. I had some problems with muni and was a little bit late, but she didnt care at all. Of course I did everything I could to give her a better impresion, but she seems happy with me so far. Of course it’s only been a day, but it looks good. Also, at the end of the day I got to sit and bitch about all the problems the teachers have with Kim, the math teacher and Donna my freshman english teacher. That was the best part :]
